Show Biz, etc.
9 February 1998Well, things are pretty slow on my end these days. I've sent Show Biz off to a variety of regional record labels and management companies, and in another week or so I'll start my follow-up calls. Meanwhile, the phone has been ringing off the hook ... but only because a Wisconsin State Journal typo listed my phone number in a review for L'Etoile, one of Madison's fanciest restaurants. I hope people stop calling soon, because I'm tempted to start taking their reservations.
Anyway, I'm getting rid of copies of Show Biz as fast as I can make them, which is a good thing. If you don't have one yet, order today!
Early reviews of Show Biz
19 January 1998Show Biz got off to a great start last week, with plenty of coverage in Madison for my "CD release weekend." For the first time ever, my shows were written up in Madison's three main entertainment newspapers, all on the same day. Additionally, two of the three papers published reviews of my new disc. I'll bring copies of the reviews along with me on the current round of gigs ... meanwhile, I'll just quote a few of the words used to describe Show Biz: "sparkling," "charming," and "quite a feat."
Exciting stuff
5 January 1998All right, I've been away from the Web for a while. But now I'm back, with three things to be excited about:
- First, my new CD, Show Biz, is finished! This is my first full-length disc, and, being completely self-produced, took a lot out of me in the last couple of months. But I'm happy with the result, and I hope you check it out.
- Along with Show Biz comes more merchandise, namely my new Toad on the Road T-shirt. This snazzy, full-color shirt will be available at upcoming shows, or right here on my site.
- Finally, I'm now able to offer my Song of the Month in RealAudio format, so I can put whole songs online and you'll have to wait just a few moments to start listening. You'll need the RealAudio Player, but everyone has that by now, right? Anyway, to demonstrate how well RealAudio works, I've put the Show Biz version of "John Cage," my longest song, online this month. It's a seven minute song, and modem users should be able to start listening in about 10 seconds.
