New song lyrics
18 May 1998Earlier this month I added a couple new songs to my set list, and I've just added their lyrics to my Lyrics page. I've got Trust-fund Beatnik, which is about a young rebel who thinks he's roughing it, along with I Grew a Tail, a song about a strange biological affliction. Fans have been asking for more upbeat, fun songs, so here you go!
New promo photo
7 May 1998Like my new promo photo on the front page of this site? I'll post a high-resolution image file on the Press and Promo page in about ten days, when the 8x10 prints are done.
Summer parties?
1 May 1998If you're planning a graduation or other summer party and would like live music, consider some original, acoustic rock and roll by yours truly! I can play indoors or out for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours, and still have some openings in my summer schedule. Send email or call my exclusive booking hotline (608-251-2500) if you're interested.
More gigs with James
1 May 1998The Amherst show was a success, according to everyone there, so I guess the guitar/bass combination worked well. If James is up for it, I hope he'll join me for the rest of my spring and summer gigs (watch the Shows page for a calendar update in the next week or two).
New performance setup
17 April 1998Beginning at tonight's show in Amherst, WI, I'll be experimenting with a new performance setup: just me and a bass player. The lucky low-ender is James Wilson, a veteran of the Show Biz recording sessions. He'll help me pep up the peppy songs, smooth out the smooth ones, and bring a menacing, low-frequency rumble to the whole show (selected venues only).
You can learn more about Jimbo at his home page. Meanwhile, drummers take note: we need you!
Introducing Planet Arlo
30 March 1998You've certainly noticed by now that my music Web site has a new look. How do you like it? Arlotone Online was serving me well, but after 20 months of the same design, I thought it was time for a change.
Planet Arlo contains the same basic info as the old site, plus a complete Lyrics section and a better-organized News area. Hopefully, you'll find this newly-designed site more fun to explore!
If you'd like to compare Planet Arlo with its predecessor, I'll leave Arlotone Online where it is, without updates, indefinitely.
Happy winter weather
4 March 1998It's been great to be a musician this winter! I just wrapped up another round of gigs, and with a little luck, I may make it to spring without one seriously rotten night of driving. Sure, the trip back from Cedar Falls, Iowa last weekend went a bit slow due to some flurries, but I've had nothing like the nailbiters that I faced almost every weekend last year.
By the way, I've been performing either solo or with a band for 10 years now, and I've yet to cancel or postpone a single gig due to weather, illness, stage fright, or any other reason. Hey, would somebody present me with a certificate or something?
