Show Biz progress
30 November 1997I'm rolling along on Show Biz, my upcoming full-length CD, and should be able to meet my self-imposed January release date. With the help of various past and future bandmates, I've recorded most of the instruments, with mixing and some vocal work left.
During the month of December, I'll be posting an excerpt from the disc each week on the Song of the Month page, so stay tuned!
Arlo on TV
28 October 1997My neighbors are used to my practicing, and an occasional jam session, but today they were surprised to see a television crew pull up in front of the apartment. Arlo hits the big time? Almost. . . .
First, I received a phone call from the Wisconsin State Journal, asking if they could interview me for a story about musicians and the Web. Sure, no problem. Then someone from the photo department called to ask about sending a photographer over. Even better. But as it turned out, one of their veteran photographers is retiring, and a local TV station is producing a story about him. They tagged along to shoot him shooting me.
I wasn't quite the center of attention, but the cameraman filmed my little studio, some faked dialog between me and the photographer, and some closeups of the photographer changing lenses on top of my copy of Bob Dylan: Lyrics 1962-1985. The piece is scheduled to air on the 6 o'clock news, Monday, Nov. 3, on Madison's NBC affiliate.
Announcing Show Biz
27 October 1997Okay, okay, I admit it. For the first time since I launched this site, I haven't done my monthly updating chores. Will you forgive me if I put November's update out a few days early?
By way of excuse, I've been busy working on -- drumroll please -- a new CD. The working title is Show Biz, and you can catch a sneak preview at the Song of the Month page.
This will be my first full-length effort, and I don't expect to finish it until Christmas. Between now and then I just have one show scheduled, but look for me to be on the road again after the new year.
Going, going, gone
3 September 1997If you haven't noticed, you can now find all my sites at http://arlotone.com. Change your bookmarks, because the old URLs will be disappearing soon!
You'll notice some wide open spaces in my performance schedule this fall, while I put my energy into other things besides booking for a while. If you'd like a show in your area, tell your local coffeehouse to call and beg me. Otherwise, keep in touch, and I'll probably see you in the spring!
